The eastbound lanes of the freeway were closed for three hours this morning.
(NOTICIAS YA).- A spectacular accident before dawn left two people dead this Saturday. The crash took place on Interstate 70, near the parallel East Colfax Avenue.
The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) reported the incident minutes before 6 a.m. today, according to local station 9News.
At 5:53 am, the ACSO posted on Twitter that all eastbound lanes of I-70 were closed around Colfax due to the fatal collision between an SUV and a semitrailer.
Although initially there was talk of a single fatality, two people lost their lives in the mishap, according to the Colorado State Patrol (CSP).
The lanes were closed for three hours, during which time workers cleared the area to resume traffic. The lanes were operating again around 9:05 a.m.
ACSO and CSP are investigating the accident, the causes of which have not revealed details so far.
