The balance of fatal and deceased claims in less than half a year of 2022 in Zamora is worrying and saddening, leaving a few tragic months in which there have been six fatal fatal accidents that have resulted in the death of seven people who, in different Circumstances have left broken families.

The first tragic accident occurred on January 14 in the municipality of Andavías when a man was hit by a car and lost his life about two kilometers from the town center without the health professionals being able to do anything to save his life.

The next two fatal accidents in the province of Zamora occurred on February 2. In the first accident, a 45-year-old motorcyclist lost his life on the ZA-513 near the town of Valdescorriel after an accident between the motorcycle he was riding and a passenger car.

Hours later, a 65-year-old man died after being run over on the A-66 at the exit of the Moraleja del Vino roundabout.

After the fateful month of February, the tragedy returned to Zamora in April. On the 17th, a 43-year-old man died who was repairing his van on the A-66 at Cubillos and was hit by a truck without being able to do anything for his life.

But it was not the last fatal accident of the month, on April 26 a 42-year-old man lost his life on the N-VI near Villabrázaro after leaving the road with the vehicle in which he was traveling, which was overturned.

After a month of May in which it seemed that the accident rate on Zamora’s roads gave a respite, the first days of June confirmed the bad streak and last Saturday, June 4, two people died, a man and a woman aged 73 and 72 old on the A-66 at the height of Pelleas de Arriba after leaving the road and falling from the highway bridge.

Seven tragic events that make your hair stand on end, and more if we compare them with the accidents and fatalities of 2019 and 2021 in this period from January to June 8 (the DGT does not count 2020 as it is not significant due to the pandemic and lockdowns).

And it is that in this period of 2019 there was only one fatal accident, although two people lost their lives, while in the same period of 2021 there was also a single fatal accident in which one deceased had to mourn.

These figures, which carry a tragedy behind them, are even less hopeful if we take into account that in all of 2021 in Zamora there were five accidents that resulted in seven fatalities, the first of which took place in the month of March, concentrating the rest in the summer period. Thus, in less than half a year, Zamora already registers the same deaths on interurban roads as in the entire previous year.

It should also be noted that, as it is an urban road and it is not counted among the deceased, another tragic event shook the province on June 3 with the death of a woman accidentally run over by her son in Quiruelas de Vidriales.
