Another neighbor has not been able to confirm that the accident occurred when the couple crossed the pedestrian crossing at the intersection of Álvaro de Bazán with Plaza de la Goleta. Late this Thursday, the president of Melilla, Eduardo De Castro, lamented the running over of the deceased pedestrian. “The president wishes to convey his condolences to the family for this unfortunate and unfair loss,” they said from the City.
Seven accidents in Álvaro de Bazán in 2019-2020
According to data from the City’s Preventive Plan for Action and Improvement of Road Accidents, Álvaro de Bazán was included between 2019 and 2020 among the sections with the highest concentration of traffic accidents in Melilla. This list includes sections with more than six accidents. There have been seven on that road.
However, the palm is taken in Melilla by Alfonso XIII, General Villalba and General Astilleros with 20 accidents each in the same period.
