CHICAGO – A teenage girl was killed and three adults were injured in a two-vehicle crash Friday near a CTA bus stop.
The crash was reported around 6:34 pm in the 7900 block of S. Racine Ave. in the Gresham neighborhood.
According to Chicago police, the driver of a gold Mercedes was traveling westbound on 79th Street when he failed to stop for a red light and struck a black Jeep traveling southbound over the intersection.
According to authorities, this caused the driver of the Jeep to run over two women who were near the bus stop.
A 14-year-old girl was taken to Comers Children’s Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
While a woman was transported by Chicago Fire paramedics to the University of Chicago Hospital in serious condition.
On the other hand, the 33-year-old man who was driving the Mercedes was taken to St. Bernards Hospital in serious condition, while the 42-year-old man who was driving the Jeep was transported to St. Bernards in fair condition.
The crash remains under investigation.
