NY Bagel Cafe & Deli franchise: How many have closed?
How many have debranded and tried to make it independently? How many paid franchise fees but never received the promised financing?
We identified 58 NY Bagel Café locations (now called NYC Bagel & Sandwich Shop or Davidovich NYC Bagel & Sandwich Shop) that have closed or rebranded.
As of 11/12/20, it appears that there are only NYC Bagel Cafe & Delis open and operating as part of the chain, and about 58 NY Bagel Cafe & Delis that have closed, debranded or otherwise left the chain.
While President Joe Smith and salesman Dennis Mason (Denis Mason) claim there have been no or few failures, An estimated 90% of the NY Bagel Cafes that opened either closed in failure or left the system, then closed.
Many, many more NY Bagel Cafe franchisees who paid franchise fees of $17,500, $19,500 or even $29,500 report that they never received the 100% funding promised by the company , and were refused the refunds they were contractually entitled to.
The NY Bagel Cafe Website Location List is False
NY Bagel Cafe misrepresents the number of open stores and hide failures by including closed or never-opened locations as operational.
On 5/17/17, the NY Bagel website listed 20 locations:
6 we verified were open
7 we verified were closed (Newark, DE, Middletown, PA, Doral, FL, Alexandria, VA, Rivervale, NJ, Cherry Hill, NJ, Newark, NJ)
2 had debranded before opening (Little Egg Harbor, NJ, Gastonia, NC)
3 are in development (Lancaster, PA, Burlington, NC, Ashland, NH)
2 do not seem to exist (Fayetteville, NC, Harrisburg,PA)
