A worker has died and another has been seriously injured when a wall collapsed during the renovation works of the hotel Servatur Puerto Azul in Puerto Rico (Gran Canaria). The events occurred around 3:15 p.m. last Wednesday.
The two workers were removing rubble on one of the slopes next to the hotel. A truck carrying sand passed through a piece of dirt that was supported by a retaining wall. This wall collapsed and buried the workers. The causes of the crash are being investigated, according to information from La Provincia.
The deceased, a 52-year-old male identified as Julian Sanchez Sardinia and native of Telde (Gran Canaria), died on the spot. For his part, the other affected worker, who has been identified as therewas trapped from the waist down and after more than an hour of work he was released and transferred to the hospital where he remains admitted.
