Christian Nationalism's Racist Past Precludes Revival Except Among GOP's…

Rachel Maddow looks at the racist, antisemitic roots of “Christian nationalism” as advocated by American politician Gerald L.K. Smith in the 1950s, and the renewed embrace of the tenets of that disgraced movement by supporters of Donald Trump like Marjorie Taylor Greene and Republican candidate for Pennsylvania governor Doug Mastriano.

  1. It's a good thing we heard about Smith and how dangerous Christianity is. Without this 10 minutes on someone, no one ever hears of as she admits, we might have had to listen about policies recently removed or enacted and their impact on everyday Americans' lives. Learning about Trump's first year, and the lowest income bracket for taxes received 6 thousand in wages more than in 2019. Biden promised prosperity for low-income earners, especially blacks. So when they ended up getting hit with high energy, and high everything, the hidden tax was estimated at 5-7 thousand in the first year and growing as time passes. Now, all you need to do to get more of this breaking news is just don't look into these things unless the reporters all donate to the democratic party like MSNBC. We value partisanship. We realized early on, that if people are given the second side of the story, they may find the truth more attractive than what we can give. So, when things are really bad and we left too much evidence, censor, censor as much as possible as fast as possible. While doing this, make the claim the information is SO ridiculous and stupid, that it's dangerous for the national SEC, that anyone worried is suspicious Make sure you constantly denigrate the people not believing the only side of the story. Make sure they are considered dangerous, but more importantly completely idiotic. This ensures society knows they will have to wear a DUNCE HAT and be ostracized by everyone. I mean, name one instance throughout history when censorship was bad for society and wasn't in its best interest? EXACTLY, censorship, which will probably happen to this comment, is a great and important tool of any successful democracy.

  2. Jesus tells us to love him above all else and for us to love one another the way he unconditionally loves us. Christian Nationalism is not Christianity, and far from even being close. Actually its blasphemy. You cant say you Love Jesus and have murder in your eyes. Jesus is the Prince of Peace and Love….not War and Hate.

  3. Hmm, Marjorie traitor Greene , you are a Christian? I suggest you go read your bible. Judas Iscariot was also an extreme nationalist…. how did that work out for him?

  4. I think everyone who is subjected to the 'it's against my religion' argument should sue that they are being religiously persecuted and it's exactly why the Pilgrims came to this country in the first place. How is it that with all this talk about the constitution and the development of this country, we are completely silent on the reason this country was founded in the first place? Pilgrims people. They were the first settlers here. Came over on ships to escape RELIGIOUS PERSECUTION. Remember that? I know christians and catholics would love to erase that truth, but you should be reminded of it every Thanksgiving. Or did they stop teaching that part of history at some point? I'm 60, so if that happened it was after I graduated grade school.

  6. There's good and bad in every party, I'm republican and I don't appreciate you showing this when many of us are In no way like this outrageous and crazy man! Using religion to make money is in no way anybody cup of tea. Democrats are religious too, quit making it sound like all democrats are not religious! Because I know q gazillion of people who are Christian and democrats! It's your bad ones that are ridiculing or showing such to influence many people to believe Republicans are like this man. And if he's republican I'm sure there are many democrat Christians that could possibly be the same. So you are out of gear news lady.

  7. Our guiding principle (should be) The Golden Rule. Jesus followed it more than any other prophet, but he wasn't the only one. I believe there were thirteen such spiritual / philosophical leaders who used it, some before the life of Jesus, including Rabbi Hillel. It is the essence of Jesus' advice, yet the GOP doesn't always follow it. Neither do Dems always follow it. It should be always followed.

  10. Our Constitution is under attack by Trump and his weak minded election denial freaks. Clear evidence of that is Jan. 6, 2021 when our sacred capitol was attacked and trashed. Homegrown terrorists do not believe in the rule of law like Trump. Come November you can either vote for Trumpocracy which is hate and division or Democracy which believes in the rule of laws.

  12. Democrats are the party of slavery, pro lynching, founded the kkk, pro segragation, anti civil rights in the 50's and 60's, made it law that you could own a human being, anti women's suffrage movement, anti womens right to vote, and oh yeah.. started a civil war so they could keep their slaves. The greatest brainwashing of all time.
Wake up people. Don't let liberals speak for you or tell you your oppressed. Live your life to it's fullest. Good luck.

  13. Christian Nationalism is basically communism through Christianity rather than through government. Now suppose someone didn't believe in Jesus, thought the US was highly overrated, arrogant, did not trust the government and acknowledged it's many shortcomings. What would you call that? 🤔🤭😁😆😅

  16. I wish MSNBC would wake up realize this is not news. This was from an Era bygone. The dude died in the 70's. He was also raised in the time of Jim crow. The country was a different place then. We can't continue as a nation if we keep bringing up the sins of our fathers. We all must learn from our past and grow from there. Painting the republican party as racist is the oldest trick in the book and it just looks desperate. You are a joke MSNBC. You'll be out of business soon just like your lord and savior CNN. 🙏 God bless America and may Jesus save us all.

  17. First Amendment: An Overview

The First Amendment of the United States Constitution protects the right to freedom of religion and freedom of expression from government interference. It prohibits any laws that establish a national religion, impede the free exercise of religion, abridge the freedom of speech, infringe upon the freedom of the press, interfere with the right to peaceably assemble, or prohibit citizens from petitioning for a governmental redress of grievances. It was adopted into the Bill of Rights in 1791. The Supreme Court interprets the extent of the protection afforded to these rights. The First Amendment has been interpreted by the Court as applying to the entire federal government even though it is only expressly applicable to Congress. Furthermore, the Court has interpreted the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment as protecting the rights in the First Amendment from interference by state governments.
    Freedom of Religion

Two clauses in the First Amendment guarantee freedom of religion. "The Establishment Clause prohibits the government from passing legislation to establish an official religion or preferring one religion over another." It enforces the "separation of church and state." However, some governmental activity related to religion has been declared constitutional by the Supreme Court. For example, providing bus transportation for parochial school students and the enforcement of "blue laws" is not prohibited. The Free Exercise Clause prohibits the government, in most instances, from interfering with a person's practice of their religion.

So evangelical Christianity wants to take away our rights because their leaders tell them this is what god wants .
Please keep your belief in god separate from my right of belief in god. You would not like it the other way round would you.

  21. White Christian Nationalism is nothing more than white supremacy disguised as a form of Christianity. Neely Fuller spoke on this subject many years ago and he stated white supremacy is a religion and the god of white supremacy is white supremacy. These people obviously do not believe in nor fear the Creator God and that God is watching their every move that they will have to amend their wrong doings in order to get into Heaven for their only fear is the dwindling of the white race by any people of color. Racism like narcissism is the result of some form of trauma in a person's life. The trauma of racism is taught to their children by the parents or other so-called grownups. No child is born racist. To a person who practices the religion of white supremacy there are only 2 races of people, white and non-white. ignorance is dangerous. They also don't want the truth of their evil past and present actions to be taught in school because they don't want their children to know the truth and form their own opinion. They call it CRT, (Critical, Race, Theory). If people of color are truly inferior to them as they claim then why do they fear people of color?

  24. This man and people are not Christian's. Christ would be the first to tell them: I Never Knew You – “Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. I'm not saying I do, but these folks are embedded in falsehood. At least I don't pretend.
