Historically, the woke mob expressed outrage over white actors playing ethnic characters. When the roles are reversed though, and an ethnic actor plays a white character, that’s totally fine! This is proven by The Little Mermaid live action film.

  1. To the people who don’t get why people are upset about Ariel being race swapped by saying it’s just a hair color and it’s important to have representation so people can see them as the characters wouldn’t that logic also exist for the pre existing black characters. And another thing about Ariel she was the only redhead Disney princess for 23 years it wasn’t until brave came out till they had another character that had red hair. Also why would you settle for someone’s leftovers when it comes to representation here’s a metaphor for it would you rather have your own perfectly cooked steak or have someone’s half chewed leftovers.

  2. We need to come together and stop making things out of control, our world is changing. I loved the little Mermaid. I was a little girl when it came out. I will always remember that version of what she looked like it's not changing. However! This is a new day. They can make 1000 Mermaid all with different hair colors but I will always remember the original one that I saw and will always love it!

  3. It's ashame, is our world getting worse. Are people still choosing not to accept others no matter what. We will always have history. Unfortunately for people of color, others wants us to stay in a box. It's not happening.

  4. It's good to have diverse characters always! and it should have always been done. Give all different race and cultures a chance to shine. All kids need to see themselves. we don't need to stay in the past, although so many people would like to. Wow! I wonder what God thinks. He made us all! It's for fun, anyway. It's a Fairy tale!

  5. I am liberal , but you do have a lot of good points and I enjoy listening to your show, Personally I did mind seeing black mermaid but I accepted it and at the end I really don't care since it is a fictional character. What bugs me the most today is seeing shows like for example Bridgerton when you have a black queen of England or a high aristocrat when you know that was not possible at the time. It is really ridiculous all this being showed down our throat. And if you say anything = you are being called racist.

  6. That he says I have seen characters that were traditionally black or another race played by white people for example Elizabeth Taylor playing Cleopatra a African Queen

  7. I don't get it, I mean I've always identified super strongly with Mulan as a child. Well, she is Asian and I am not. The same goes for Pippi Longstocking with red hair. I didn't have all of their looks, and yet I identified so strongly because I admired their CHARACTER and wanted to be and act like that. THAT is what it should be about. Appearance is so secondary.

  8. Not only this film is going to be crappy and twisted because of this silly woke decision to put a black actress as Ariel, but putting that actor as the Prince is hilarious: I worked at a call center (a.k.a. Worst 2 years of my Life) for a known British airline, and this Jonah Hauer-King guy calls one day, complaining to me that the website didnt work (what do I have to do with it, I still dont know) and when i quoted the change for him, as much as I tried my best (i tried my best for everyone, i didnt even know he was an actor) he had to pay 170GBP extra to change his ticket. THAT man was being passive-agressive marking me feel guilty because of 170gbp to change his business ticket! Me, a common worker, would never think to call an airline for assistance and then make the worker feel guilty because a machine is telling her I gotta pay more. I dont know if this is decency or being naive, but I wouldnt, call center workers have it tough enough as it is.

I’ll never forget that this actor made me feel crappy for 170 pounds. Worst Prince ever.

  10. This is how they turn germany into a fascist regime in the 30's, polluting the people's minds with social mechanisms of intolerance and intransigence.
For several decades now, are the US culture standards and foreign policies considered as so(fascist), by other cultures. Now it's official.

  11. The only ones that are complaining are the millennials and the baby boomers who wish that everything was still 90s all white and all tie-dye

  12. It’s not even important to be honest you Halle Bailey has such an amazing voice for a black actress that I doubt a white actress can pull off if you looked at her lead part of your world singing. She is well qualified. I can’t wait for a Puerto Rican, Snow White.👌🏻☺️🐖🇵🇷

  13. To be fair I understand his point of it being hypocritical but ariel unlike the other examples isn’t tied to a race even tho they’re all fictional

  14. Society is so SENSITIVE nowadays that we gotta change races for characters now and create a whole new backstory or plot ? like in the comics they'll always make someone white/black and in the video game, book or movie they'll change the race recently or the gender identity? like wut? why was that necessary? Im perplexed because it was balanced to begin with and made sense.

  15. I agree for one common goal (some may know characters like electro I believe in some games he was depicted as black in video game and he was a white man In the comics that I grew up with SPIDERMAN) There is no need to create an awesome story for a character and whole animation teams all teams then change it because of conformity? It doesn't make you racist? Now you have much more work, there was never an imbalance imo? Disney is deff experimenting especially with homosexuality and lesbianism too .. I need to be informed before I take my nephews out : , I was caught off guard in the video game The Last of Us 2 and my nephew saw the two girls kissy kissy, and he had so much questions. There's no need to change a great narrative! That makes sense! Again not a racist thing!

  16. I feel really bad for the little redhead girls who just have to sit and watch another redhead character get changed and they can’t even say that they’re upset about it without someone calling them racist

  17. I rly hope that Disney or another big company re-remakes the little mermaid so that my childhood dream of seeing ARIEL (my favorite icon who I cherished and grew up with) come to life…

  18. I think its cause Ariels race has nothing to do with the story so it doesn't really matter whether she's white or not. But for example with something like Mulan or princess Tiana, their race and ethnicity is important to the story. The story of Mulan is Chinese and is very involved in her culture and meaning. And with Tiana, her being black is important to the story, she's not taken seriously because she is a black woman. So saying "so why can't princess Tiana or Mulan be white??" Is just kinda ignorant. The little mermaid is about her voice, her voice is a huge part of the story and kinda the whole point. The director of the live action chose halle baily because he heard her performing at an award show and was so moved by her voice that he asked her to audition and she got the role. Also not to mention she's a literal fish so🧍

  19. Not really caring about any of this. Saw the movie as a kid close to 50 years ago. Won't go see it again or see this new version because that magic has passed for me long ago. If this new version rekindles the magic of an older movie for a new generation then so be it. Still not buing into that blowhard John Leguizamo's misapprpriation arguement. That guy should just take his own advice he gave to CRT critics and shut the [email protected]$% up! If an actor can play a part i.e. cuban/mexican/black/white/asian/gay/straight well then what's all the complaining about? IT'S A MOVIE!!!!

  20. correct me if I am wrong, and I am often such, but didn't white people invent movies and television. If appropriation matters should no non-white person be using technology invented by whites. Should black people be denied penicillin ? Honestly when you consider it. The real story isn't the story of the little mermaid rather the telling of little mermaid through the medium of the moving picture. Which is apart of western cultural. Also, shouldn't todays minorities be attempting to produce their own animated stories instead of appropriating white history and changing it to fit and feed their victimhood idolatry.

  21. Why is Superman white? He's basically a sun god with an African/Arab real name, Cal-El. Amun-Ra is the Egyptian/African sun god & creator of life but he has dark skin, like a sun god should & wiuld have. Superman is a pale skin white man that gets all of his superpowers from the sun. How is a white man able to soak in sun rays without catching melanomas & skin cancer? He can fly into the sun & remain white. Talk about ridiculous. If we're going to be scientifically correct with fictional beings, let's start with Superman.

  22. For as long as I can remember white actors have played EVERYONE whether historically accurate or not. Especially those "Indians" in cowboy movies. It is necessary that all cultures be represented on the big screen. Let's stop being racist and giving people this white Jesus complex. He himself, wasn't even white. Dare we change him to look like a historical Judean. Black people have red hair btw. Google it!
