A 39-year-old motorcyclist from Zumaia died this Sunday afternoon in an accident involving a vehicle in Azpeitia. As reported by the Security Department, the head-on collision between the motorcycle and the car took place around 6:30 p.m. on the GI-631 road near Lasao. An ambulance and firefighters and the Ertzaintza have been dispatched to the scene. The health services have not been able to revive the pilot. The road has been closed for several hours. The Basque Police have requested witnesses to the accident and that they contact the investigation agents on the traffic telephone number 943 53 91 19.

There are already seven people who have died so far this year in traffic accidents in Gipuzkoa. The last one occurred on April 16 in Ibarra. It was the fatal outrage of Imanol Reguillaga Arocena. The previous fatal accident took place on January 23, Sunday, when the rider of a Yamaha was seriously injured at kilometer point 443 of the NI towards Vitoria as it passed through Amasa-Villabona. When the agents went to the scene, they found the victim lying on the road, but there was no other vehicle in the area. The 52-year-old man died at the scene.

The first death of the year was that of a man from San Sebastián who died on January 2 at dawn on the GI-41, in San Sebastián. The pilot, a 35-year-old man, suffered an exit from the road in the tunnel that connects the neighborhoods of Loiola and Amara at the height of the horse, in the middle of the entrance to the city, at 4:30 in the morning.

Last year 18 people died on the roads of Gipuzkoa, 42 in Euskadi.

Three injured in a head-on collision in Zubieta

Three people were injured late on Sunday after suffering a head-on collision near Zubieta.
