A 45-year-old electrician died yesterday at noon while working on a warehouse in Juncosa, according to the Mossos d’Esquadra. This is the second fatal accident that occurs in the Lleida region after another electrician died on Wednesday afternoon, in this case in Mollerussa (see SEGRE yesterday). In addition, it is the fifth fatal accident of the year in the Lleida region and all of them have been registered in less than a month and a half.
The accident occurred around 12:00 in the construction of the mill inside a hill made by the Cuadra Valley company. For reasons that are being investigated, the man, who was working with a forklift, was trapped in a ceiling beam. The operator worked for a company located in Sant Just Desvern.
The emergency services rushed to the scene of the accident but could do nothing to save his life. Several Mossos patrols and ambulances from the Sistema d’Emergències Mèdiques (SEM) participated in the management of the accident. The Catalan police have brought the facts to the attention of the Lleida guard court and the Ministry of Business and Labor After these last two cases, there are already five fatal accidents this year in Lleida, which have occurred since May 30.
On June 22, a 33-year-old resident of Mollerussa died trapped by a fruit sorting machine. On the 9th, a 32-year-old worker from Alcarràs died hours after suffering an accident at work in a cereal company in Alguaire. And on May 30, a 51-year-old resident of Les Borges Blanques lost her life when she was run over in a prefabricated factory.
