Four Israelis who were injured in a deadly traffic accident in Georgia were flown to Israel on Saturday, when they were taken to local hospitals for further care.

One of the wounded Israelis is expected to be released later in the day, and a review of the medical conditions of the other three and their future care will take place, according to the Foreign Ministry.

A 38-year-old woman with multiple systemic injuries who was hospitalized in serious condition at Tel Hashomer hospital in Ramat Gan was among the four, according to the Magen David Adom ambulance service.

The other three were described with minor injuries.

According to the Ynet news website, two other Israeli women who were seriously injured in the collision remain in Georgian hospitals.

A total of 15 people were injured in the collision, which sadly claimed the lives of two Israeli visitors. The Foreign Ministry has not clarified how many of the wounded were Israelis.

Days before the Jewish New Year, when many Israelis were traveling for the occasion, an accident occurred near the Georgian city of Batumi.

The ministry added on Saturday that Israeli Ambassador Hadas Meitzad and other embassy representatives had been in contact with Israeli medical personnel traveling to Georgia and with their relatives.

Due to the hiking trails and stunning mountain scenery, South Georgia has been an increasingly popular travel destination for Israelis in recent years. The accident occurred there when the minibus carrying the Israeli visitors collided with another vehicle.

When their car crashed into a gorge in the isolated and mountainous Tusheti region in the northeast of the country during a storm in October 2016, two Israeli children were killed and four other members of the same family were seriously injured.
